About This Episode:

In this episode of “walkwithme” I share five thoughts on how we can use this time to review, reevaluate and reinvent—not only regarding what we do but who we are becoming in the process.

Is it just me, or are there certain things we used to do all the time, but cannot do right now, and we no longer miss doing? I think now is a perfect time to review, reevaluate and reinvent not only what we want to do with our lives but also who we want to become in the process.

I was having a conversation with Josh Trent (who you’ll learn more about in the next episode). He shared his story on how he was in a successful corporate role on the “traditional path” but then reached a point when he realized he was stuck and unfulfilled until he “got the gift of being fired.” It enabled him to shift from that traditional path to the world of entrepreneurship.

In the circumstances we’re all currently in, maybe it’s time we shift the script and take a different perspective. For example, think: Instead of life happening TO me, maybe it’s happening FOR me.

Here are 5 thoughts on how we can review, revaluate and reinvent.

#1 – Forgive and let go.

The first step in change is to let go of the things holding us back. What are you holding onto that is acting is an anchor (mental, physical, emotional) weighing you down? Maybe it’s a feeling of anger or resentment. Harboring all that is hurting the future you. So, what anchors do you need to release?

#2 – Be willing to begin again.

Beginning can be exciting, fresh and new! You cannot move forward while always looking in the past. Ask yourself what you can create. For things to get better, they need to get different.

#3 – Connect to a higher purpose.

Do things for reasons that serve others beyond just you. Otherwise, you’ll never be able to create the impact you’re capable of having. Move in a direction where you ask yourself how you can add value or contribute to others.

#4 – Care enough.

This is a heart thing, empathy thing, a give-a-shit thing. Right now, the need in the world is greater than it’s ever been in my lifetime on so many levels. When the need is big enough, the impact we can make can be just as big.

#5 – Live and lead by example.

If you do all the things above, you’ll lead and live by your actions. You’ll inspire others by showing them what’s impossible. That is how you build a community and how you inspire a movement.

Today can be a time of reflection and a time of opportunity to evaluate if we’re going in the right direction. If you ask yourself these questions about what you can forgive and let go, what you can create, what impact you can have, and decide to care enough and lead by example, you will move in the right direction and feel good about it.
