About This Episode:

In this episode of “#WalkWithMe” I share 7 do-it-yourself (DIY) ways for how to appreciate and take advantage of this forced pause and become better versions of ourselves.

Throughout the past couple of months, we’ve had to literally pause almost everything. I believe that sometimes with great challenge can come great opportunity. Let’s choose to see this forced pause as time to interrupt the path we were on and possibly reevaluate, readjust and reset.

Here are seven do-it-yourself (DIY) ways, which I personally use, that can help you to appreciate and take advantage of this time.

#1 – Reevaluate your values.

Our values can evolve. This forced pause has shown me how some of the things I thought were important, aren’t so much anymore. There’s other things I used to take for granted, and now I’m craving, like having a picnic on the beach with my family. What has this time taught you about what is important to you? I recommend making a list of your top 5 or 10 personal core values, which can guide where and how you spend your time.

#2 – Reestablish your routines.

Routines are daily linked habits, and now is a good time to do some ‘spring cleaning’ in terms of your daily activities. For example, get rid of things that no longer serve you.

#3 – Rekindle relationships.

There’s a massive rising of reconnection happening right now. Ironically, the more we’re told to social distance from each other, the more we want to get together. Who are people you didn’t have time to connect to in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that you can reestablish a relationship with?

#4 – Finish that thing.

We all have that ‘thing’ we talk about finishing. Maybe it’s a passion project you wanted to complete or a book you wanted to write.

#5 – Start something new.

How can you use this time to tap into your creative energy? I believe that by nature, we’re all created to create. It could be an arts-and-crafts project. Or a new business. Or a new direction in life.

#6 – Prioritize yourself.

So many of us put ourselves last because we think that we’re supposed to in order to take care of others. However, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Use this time to practice self-care so that you can become the best version of yourself—and then share that with others.

#7 – Forgive and let go.

Holding onto resentment or anger will only weigh you down. Now is a perfect time to acknowledge what you’re holding onto and let it go so you can experience a rebirth.

Which one/s of the 7 do you need to do the most?
